Invitation to serve on the Steward’s Committee

My Brother this evening you were raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. We at Whitney Lodge congratulate you, and are glad to call you Brother.

At this time we invite you to serve on the Steward’s Committee from now until the next three stated meetings (approximately 3 months). Let us stress at this time this is a request, you are under no obligation to do so, nor will you be thought less of if you do not serve. As with most things in Masonry this is “of your own free will and accord”.

The purpose of the Steward’s Committee is to assist the Stewards in their duties before and after the meetings. You may be asked to help raise the Flag, help setup the Lodge room before a meeting or help set the dinning room tables. If you like, at your discretion you may want to do a work lecture in open lodge for a new brother who is setting where you were just a few short weeks ago. There are many things that go on behind the scenes, and your Lodge can use your help. Remember inside the walls of our Lodge there is no menial work only good, true and square work.

This Committees purpose is to get you to commit to your Lodge and I stress your Lodge. Tonight you were given a key to the doors of this building, we cannot think of a more tangible symbol to give you, to let you know that you are welcome here. You are a valuable part of this Lodge and Freemasonry. Do not feel that because you cannot as of yet do the work inside our meetings, that you have nothing to contribute to Freemasonry.

Please honor Whitney Lodge by serving on this committee. This will give you reason and purpose to attend our Meetings and let you learn the workings of the Lodge. To get to know us, enjoy fellowship and get comfortable with your Lodge.

The Senior Steward will call you a few days before our next meeting. If you have any questions he will be glad to answer them at that time.
